NWO (Dutch Research Council) finances curiosity-driven research, research related to societal challenges, and research infrastructure, investing nearly 1 billion euros annually. Scientists and research institutions can apply for funding of research projects and large equipment and databases once NWO publishes a call for proposals. NWO distinguishes five funding lines: open competition, talent programmes, collaboration with knowledge users and society, practice-oriented research with an innovation accelerator, and scientific infrastructure. Applications are assessed and ranked on the basis of objective criteria; grants are awarded in order of ranking until the available budget is exhausted. Calls remain on the website for up to 6 months after their deadline with status ‘closed’.
Requisitos
Calls for proposals are published on the NWO website; each individual call has its own conditions documented in the call for proposals document. Applications must be submitted within the funding round and are assessed on objective criteria. Researchers and research institutions are eligible to apply.
